AFFORDABLE HOUSING | CAMPAIGN FOR THE FUTURE

Affordable Housing Program
St. Vincent’s in partnership with Mercy Housing California, a prominent not-for-profit developer of community housing solutions, has developed 75 affordable units for low-income families and 95 affordable units for low-income seniors on St. Vincent’s 19-acre site. This comprehensive, forward-looking development has amenities essential for developing strong families and communities—gardens, play areas, playing fields, gathering places, walkways, childcare, and a community center.

2St. Vincent’s Gardens Family Housing
75 units of family housing in 14 buildings with two, three, and four bedroom units

Available to low and very low income families with incomes at or below 60% of area median, these units are equipped with refrigerators, range/oven units, and washer/dryer combinations. The development has tot lots, a community building, and abundant open space for play areas, and playing fields.

Financing provided by California Housing Finance Agency, California Tax Credit Allocation Committee, the City of Santa Barbara, County of Santa Barbara, California Debt Limit Allocation, Federal Home Loan Bank’s Affordable Housing Project, Housing Authority of the City of Santa Barbara, Mercy Loan Fund, Merritt Community Capital Corporation, Catholic Healthcare West, St. Vincent’s Institution, and contributions from Santa Barbara area donors.

Villa Caridad Senior Housing2
95 one-bedroom units of senior housing in a multi-story building

Units are restricted to senior households (head of household age 62 or older) with incomes at or below 50% of area median). Residents will pay no more than 30% of their adjusted gross income for rent. Units are equipped with refrigerators and range/oven units. The development has a community building, outdoor sitting areas, and walking paths along the existing stream bed.

Financing provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Redevelopment Agency of the City of Santa Barbara, Federal Home Loan Bank’s Affordable Housing Program, Mercy Loan Fund, St. Vincent’s Institution, and donations from Santa Barbara area individuals, foundations, and businesses.
