Congressman Salud Carbajal and the Audacious Foundation Visit St. Vincent’s Campus

August 15th, 2024, Santa Barbara, CA. Last month, Congressman Salud Carbajal (CA-24) made a welcome visit to St. Vincent’s campus. The Congressman’s visit underscored a critical issue facing our community: the lack of affordable housing for low-income families and seniors. The visit served as a platform for conversation to highlight the challenges faced by these vulnerable populations and to explore potential solutions.

A cornerstone of the visit was a meeting with the Audacious Foundation, Santa Barbara’s leading philanthropic organization committed to empowering and defending the importance of childhood in Santa Barbara. The Congressman, St. Vincent’s staff, and the foundation representatives engaged in productive discussions about the root causes of the affordable housing crisis and innovative strategies to expand housing options.

During a campus tour, Salud Carbajal witnessed the positive impact of St. Vincent’s charitable works, and specifically the construction of affordable housing for low-income seniors and families. The Congressman emphasized the need for increased government investment in affordable housing development, as well as supportive services to help residents achieve financial security.
